We went to Cafe Du Monde fully expecting to wait in line for an hour plus but we were sat in less than 5 minutes! The menu is very basic beignets and coffee but don’t sleep on the frozen coffee!!! It was delicious! I’ve had dreams of the frozen coffee since leaving lol! The beignets were of course amazing and just know you will leave with powdered sugar on you somewhere. It’s literally on the floor around every table and on every flat surface. Don’t get me wrong they kept it very clean but I swear you could see it floating in the air lol! It was such a great experience and we will definitely be back! The service was a little off as she gave us one total and then another total and then back to the first but then wanted to give us change back on the second total. Not a huge deal but just wasn’t the friendliest of interactions. But definitely won’t keep us from coming back!
The Baseline: For coffee and beignets the coffee must be rich and bold, the pastry must be hot, pillowy, and sweet, and the service atmosphere must provide the experience. Food: Cafe du Monde serve coffee and beignets. They also will serve OJ/soda too. I ordered a Cafe Au Lait with a plate of beignets. The beignets are a little doughier than others I have tried and I actually like the thicker beignets. Service: The staff are friendly, helpful, and efficient. This is more like a food court mall experience than the service at the main location next to Jackson Square. Ambiance: This is a mall location for Cafe du Monde and is accessible for the mall and convention center patrons. The cafe is decently busy at most times and hours.
Don’t use Google maps to get here if you’re walking. Took us around back of the mall and we ended up going in on the opposite end. It is a small location inside the outlet mall. Beignets were fantastic and better than I remember the last time we were in town. Coffee is a bit more expensive than it probably should be as it’s not anything special. Service was friendly and quick. We went on a Tuesday afternoon and there were plenty of seats and no wait.
To me this was a smaller but better location and they accept credit card! No wait at all and no time wasted waiting in line on Sun afternoon. My husband and I get to enjoy an order of 3 piping hot beignet each and the prices are slightly cheaper than original location. Mugs are cheaper here too!
First time in New Orleans. Wanted to see what all the fuss was about Beignets. Of boy they were good especially with the chicory coffee. There was white powdered sugar everywhere :)
2nd Best beignet I found in NOLA. So fluffy but yet still firm. Similar to a funnel cake but 10 times better. The frozen coffee was also delicious. I would definitely come to Cafe Du Monde over and over for the service, the food, and the coffee. There was a gentleman here who served all the guests but picking up their trash and cleaning tables. Very kind man. I highly recommend you check out Cafe Du Monde
Hello! The Trekking Pawns here! We now understand the craze for these beignets. We have officially “beignet done that!” We had visited the original location the night before and the wait was an hour long and it was cold outside, so we opted out. This place was by our hotel, so we planned to get here before opening. We thought 20 min was plentiful, boy were we wrong. We got there and the tables were already full of people waiting! We luckily snagged the second to last table as we waited with everyone. And this place was inside the mall and out of the cold. Easy access for people going to and from the cruise ship as well. The workers were already there, looking like this was a daily occurrence, they were not phased. About 10 min before opening, they said line up! The anticipation was here. Finally the gates on the windows opened and we could watch them make the beignets, fry, and sugar powder them. Magic! The service was fast and quick! Our beignets were deliciously crispy on the outside and scrumptiously chewy on the inside. I made the mistake of inhaling while taking a bite and got a face full of powder sugar. Don’t breathe out either as it will fly to all over the table. Just don’t breathe when biting, haha! Oh gosh, so good! I want more! @thetrekkingpawns
Dear me the beignet was ridiculously delicious, so good! The Asian woman at the front desk was soooo rude and impatient but I couldn’t even take off one star from how tasty the beignet was! Best in Nola and a must try.
